What Govorim srpski collects, why it needs it, and what it never keeps.

Last updated 2026-08-25

Who we are

Govorim srpski is operated by Dmitrii Neverovskii, Izmailskaya 76, Krasnodar, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. Below, "we" means the operator and "you" means the person using the site.

For anything in this policy, including requests about your own data, write to govorimsrpski.com@gmail.com.

What we collect

Only what the service needs in order to work, grouped by the reason it exists:

  • Account — your email address and display name, or the identifier your sign-in provider returns if you use Google. Passwords are stored only as a hash.
  • Learning — your answers, scores, XP, streaks, flashcard schedule, test results and unlocked levels. This is the product: without it the site cannot show you what you have learned.
  • Usage — anonymised events about which exercises are attempted and how they go, used to find weak material.
  • Technical — IP address, browser and device type, and error identifiers (the traceId shown on error screens), kept for security and for debugging failures.
  • Billing — your subscription status and its period. Card numbers never reach this application: checkout is hosted by the payment provider.

We do not buy data about you. The website carries two third-party tags — Google's advertising tag and Yandex Metrika — which let us see whether an advertisement led to a sign-up or a subscription; both run only with your consent, and the mobile apps load neither.

Speech and writing

Speaking exercises record your voice in the browser, send it to be transcribed, grade the transcript, and discard the audio. Recordings are never stored — not on our servers, and not after the check returns. What is kept is the result: your score and the word-by-word comparison.

Writing is different: the text you submit is stored as part of your attempt history and, if you have AI feedback, sent to the tutor provider to be commented on. Do not put personal details you would rather not have stored into a writing exercise — the tasks never ask for them.

Why we are allowed to process it

Under the GDPR, our legal bases are:

  • Performance of a contract — running your account, saving your progress, and delivering a subscription you paid for.
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and improving the material from aggregated results.
  • Legal obligation — retaining billing and tax records for the period Serbia requires.
  • Consent — anything optional, such as email you asked to receive. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who else sees it

We share the minimum needed with the providers that run parts of the service, each under a data-processing agreement:

  • The payment provider, which handles checkout and keeps card data on its own systems.
  • The speech recognition provider, which receives speaking audio for the seconds it takes to transcribe it.
  • The AI tutor provider, which receives writing submissions in order to produce feedback.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, on whose systems the databases physically sit.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. What Google's advertising tag and Yandex Metrika receive, if you allowed them, is the pages you view on the website and the fact that a sign-up or a purchase happened, together with their own cookies and technical data such as your IP address — never your name, your email or your learning data; session recording is off. We disclose data to authorities only where the law requires.

How long we keep it

Account and learning data are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account erases them immediately — in the same request, not on a schedule — apart from the record of payments already made, which the law requires us to keep, and security logs, which are kept for 30 days.

Speaking audio has no retention period, because it is never written down anywhere.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, export it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to govorimsrpski.com@gmail.com and say which right you are exercising; we answer within one month.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to Poverenik za informacije od javnog značaja i zaštitu podataka o ličnosti (Serbia).

Deletion is the one right you never have to write to us about: it is in Settings, it takes effect immediately, and the account deletion page describes exactly what goes.

Cookies and local storage

The site sets no cookies of its own. On the website, Google's advertising tag and Yandex Metrika set their cookies to attribute a sign-up or a purchase to an advertisement — only if you allow it in the cookie banner, and you can change your answer at any time under “Cookie settings” at the foot of this page or of any page; the mobile apps load no such tags. Apart from that, what is used is your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device:

  • Your session token, so that you stay signed in.
  • Your interface language, your Serbian script (Cyrillic or Latin) and your colour theme.
  • The offline cache of the installable app, holding lessons you have already opened.

Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it and signs you out.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If the way data is handled changes, we update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes are also announced in the app before they take effect.

A word about cookies

We use Google's advertising tag and Yandex Metrika to see whether an ad brought you here and led to a sign-up or a subscription. They set their cookies only if you allow it. Nothing else on this site tracks you. Privacy policy
