The negative form: немам, немаш, нема…
Ten minutes on the fused negative - немати is its own verb, built on the stem нема-, never не + имати written apart - and the one word, времена, that shifts into the genitive after it while an ordinary negated possession stays in its plain form. Build three sentences that fuse the negative correctly, hear the grammar lesson's own „Немамо времена.“ said aloud, and catch the mistake every beginner makes splitting не имам in two.

Negative present - немати
The negative of имати is not не + имати written apart - it is its own verb, немати, built on the present stem нема- (see the table below), the same fused pattern as бити's нисам.
