"Milk" is млеко in Belgrade and млијеко two hundred kilometres west, and both are correct Serbian. The split comes from a single vowel that disappeared from the alphabet over a century ago but never left the language - and unlike the country-by-country naming split, this one runs straight through Serbian itself.
